Youth Coalition founder Simon Jackson handed out two trophies at this year’s Emerald Awards – the celebration of environmental leadership, commitment and innovation across Alberta.

Jackson spoke and participated in Alberta’s first Emerald Days in February and teamed up with the Emerald Foundation to recognize ongoing work to enhance not only Alberta’s environmental legacy, but also that of the world.

Before announcing the award recipients, Jackson spoke to student, community, political and business leaders in Calgary and from across Alberta, discussing the importance of protecting the spirit bear and the need for people from all walks of life to work together to create a balanced vision for a more sustainable planet.

Indeed, those who attended caught the spirit to save the bear.
